How Can Loose Motion Be Treated?

my mom is suffering from loose motion since one month.Her std. of passing is 5-6 times daily.Rest she is also taking almity plus as calcium for arthiritis.Kindly let me know the cause of the loose motion and the process of moving towards the said treatment. Regards swati.

Welcome to health care magic,

She might be suffering from acute diarrhea as per your descriptions.

But one thing should be clear that character and consistency of stool is more important than the frequency.

She should have undergone routine blood, electrolytes, urea,creatinine and stool (R/ M and ova)examinations.

She should be given antibiotics with anaerobic bacteria coverage (quinolones with ornidazole) with antispasmodic, water and electrolyte replacements,with probiotics like lactobaccillus, racecadotril etc.

You should take her to primary care physician who can order above investigations and prescribe treatment.
