My 84 yr old mother recently went to her PCP and her heart rate was between 388-40. Typically it s 62-68. She takes Nameda XR 28 mg and Aricept 10 mg. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Considering your mother's age, it appears that she could be having senile dementia. She needs a neurological evaluation as you are suggesting that the symptoms have been presented acutely.
Kindly consult Neurologist in this regard promptly for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
If she is having senile dementia, which is age related, she can be managed with appropriate supportive care. Administration of antioxidant medications could slow down the progress but does not cure the disorder.

Hope the information provided helps.

All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
