How Can Mild Epilepsy With Loss Of Memory Be Treated?
my child of 12 years now, who had 2 mild episodes of epilepsy , at the age of 6 n 10 respectively.he had been given epilex syp. earlier n now treated with lobazam 5mg. In the course of time he also developed skin problem psorosis , and gained lot of fats too. Thogh he is a very bright child, but a very slow writer, i have noticed That he has started forgettin things which are very normal like wipin his mouth after drinkin milk, noticing down his homework etc. Dr. Prescribed him with cerecetam syp. For 1 month and even betanaz medicine . I just want to know are the medications hampering mental growth of my child, and can it be worsened. How to cure or atleast what precautions should be taken
In such cases, lowering the doses, or starting a new antiepileptic drug with fewer long-term adverse effects (Levetiracetam for example) may be necessary.
Juvenile seizures tend to diminish as the children grow, so, stopping gradually antiepileptic drugs is a possibility too.
However, intermittent EEG and Neurologist's opinion are necessary to stop antiepileptic drugs.
