How Can Pain And Pressure In The Hands And Fingers Be Treated?

Hi I broke my wrist 6 weeks ago and still haven t regained full use of the hand i.e.lifting, putting pressure on my fingers, and painful in 3 places; base of thumb, back of hand and outer hand area below little finger towards the wrist. Is this normal and should I be taking bone strengthening vitamins or similar. I am a 72 yr old female. What can I do to help myself? I am doing some hand exercises. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

This is still early postoperative phase and pain and limited motions are expected for up to 3 months. You can take hondroitin supplements and calcium supplements but also physical therapy is important as well. Also, vitamin D rich food is required for normal healing. If there is no improvement, you should do MRI scan of the wrist to see iof there are some healing disorders which should be treated more specifically.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
