How Can Pain And Swelling On The Left Middle Finger Be Treated?

My middle finger on my left hand has been swollen now for a couple of months. It feels like the finger stays straight and wants to keep on bending backwards the wrong way. I asked my doctor at my yearly physical one week ago what could be wrong. To my surprise he didnt offer any diagnosis, for treatment? It can be very painful so what to do now?

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [rheumatologist] and to confirm do few investigations like [Serum Uric acid, RF test, ESR, and CBC].
2) Discuss with your Doctor about prescription NSAID like [celecoxib] for pain and [prednisone].
3) Discuss other prescription medications after test report only.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this:

1) Keep your fluid intake high. Stay well-hydrated, including plenty of water.
2) Limit or avoid alcohol particularly [BEER].
3) Get your protein from low-fat dairy products. Limit your intake of meat, fish, and poultry.
4) Try to maintain a desirable body weight.

Choose portions that allow you to maintain a healthy weight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
