How Can Pain And Tenderness In The Gum Be Treated?

40 years ago a dentist accidentally (when drilling to place a root canal) drilled through the root and through the front of my gum. I went to an endontist and got it patched through oral surgery (the dentist went with me). Anyway, I bit down hard last week and it is now tender, but not really painful. What do you suggest?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like due to biting hard there has been injury to the gums making them tender..

There is also a possibility that any small piece of food got impacted deep into the gum leading to infection and tenderness.

Do not worry as it will get healed soon..
As of now you can do warm saline gargles, apply Lidocaine gel over the gum if it hurts and avoid biting on hard foods to avoid any further injury to the same area..

But in case if it does not get better or become more painful then you should consult your Dentist and get evaluated so that a localised cleaning can be done..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
