How Can Pain In Legs Caused After Doing Splits Be Treated?

So for highschool I m on the dance team and right now it s summer but we still have practice and like 3 weeks ago we stretched and we were practicing our jump splits and I was like the demonstrator and I kept doing my my jump splits repeatedly without like a rest in between and when I did a jump split I felt a pain so I stopped and rested for like 5 min and after I tried doing them again but it hurt and now it s been 3 weeks and it still hurts like I try to lift up my leg and I can but there s a certain place where I stop because it starts to hurt and I ve put a heated pad on it and taken Epsom salt baths but nothing seems to help. Am I going to get better? And if so how long will it take

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
After physical exertion specially exercising beyond the capacity of muscles results in severe pain in muscles. It takes time for the muscles to heal from the stress. In your case I would suggest you take some muscle relaxants in combination with pain killer for couple of days.

Along with that, you need to take rest and avoid exertion on the muscles that are currently hurting. Include protein in your diet. It will go away after a week. If it persists for more than that duration then I suggest you see a doctor and follow his advice for further management.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact for any further query in the future.
