Hi,
About the complaint :
1) duration of the symptoms
2) any skin changes (swelling of the calf,
redness, ulcers, hair changes)
3) if the pain associated with
numbness sensation in the foot
4) if
back pain is there
5) your career (manual worker)
6) alternating pain (in the other leg)
7) medication you are taking
8) hx of ankle sprains or trauma.
I have a list of differentials in my mind that I need to r/o one by one according to your answers, however, one of my top differentials is the presence of
tendinitis (inflammation of the tendons that traverse the ankle).
What should you do for this problem;
1) rest during your work 5 minutes each hour, try walking around 5-10 meters during this time period
2) Icing of the area involved (5 minutes - 2 times a day - ice applied indirectly over the painful area)
3) simple analgesics if no contraindication (e.g.
allergy)
4) check with the nearest clinic for any signs of DVT (
thrombosis - you may need
ultrasound for it).
Follow with this regime for around a week and check for improvement, you may also need an aircast to comfort your ankle and prevent recurrent ankle sprains.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
