How Can Pain In The Knees Be Treated?

I fell and injured my knee two weeks ago. Now whenever I bend and straighten my knee, a bump appears and it clunks. I have pain walking, mostly down stairs. I was diagnosed with a bone spur, and have pain on and off anyway, but this is new. Not sure if i need to see my ortho, primary care, or just give it time. I do ice, and ibuprofen.
