How Can Pain In The Right Shoulder Be Treated?

I have had pain in the front of my right shoulder for at least a year now. Noticeably got worst after have to rely on a cane after hip replacement surgery last year. Shoulder pain worse now after exercising in pool by swimming, especially after trying to do the butterfly stroke. Pain makes it difficult to sleep at night -- I tend to be a side sleeper. I am female, 54 years of age, good health.
