How Can Pain In The Thigh Be Treated?

Hi Doctor! I have developed a pain on my left thigh. It seems to be a muscle on the back of the thigh. It radiates to the hip area and sometimes to the leg. It is very painful when I go up the stairs, but not down. I exercise a lot and do weights ( circuit 2-3 times week .I do heavy weights. I am also a runner but have been stying away from running. When the leg is straight it doesn’t hurt. It hurts when bending and certain movements. Is it OK to exercise through pain. I have been going up using mostly my right leg. What can I do to make pain go away? Thanks for your help!!!

Hi,

Possible causes are sciatica or impingement of nerves may lead to radiating pain from lower back to leg. Other possibilities like herniated disc or muscle pain or osteoarthritis or spinal stenosis etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please get X-ray lumbar spine, use muscle relaxant, use tablet Aceclofenac. Use tablet Pregabalin.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
