How Can Pain On The Finger Tip Due To A Cut Be Treated?

I just cut off 2mm of the tip of my index finger. Clean cut, painful, bleeding mostly stopped. it is bandaged tightly and elevated. I took 400 mg ibuprofen. my question for you: can i take hydrocodone (acetaminophen codeine)also? if so, can i take it now or should i wait?

Hi,

If the pain is severe and not helped with ibuprofen and elevation of the finger (keep it a little above the heart level to reduce edema and pain) then you may have hydrocodone even at the same time with ibuprofen (they work in different ways).

You may need to talk with your doctor on the need for tetanus prophylaxis as well so please make sure you set an appointment with your PCP.
