How Can Painful Anal Fissure In A Child Be Treated?

3 year old son is screaming in pain saying bum hurts he asks for cream so i change him cream him and when i cream the line that runs from testies to anus he winces and screams it looks slightly swollen took him to gp two days ago who suggested anal fischre with what we described but iv only just creamed him and he saying that part hurts the line i touched..even though he is holding his bum..he was given lactulose by gp for two months but i cant go two months with him in so much pain

Hi,

Definitely, agree that it would be impossible to go that length of time with your child in pain.

For now, you can try a sitz bath to see if this would ease his pain (warm not hot water with salts) and the use of an anti-inflammatory pain killer- childrens ibuprofen.

He should be reassessed to find the exact cause of his pain.
