How Can Pica Be Treated?

My daughter is almost 5 and has started eating paper but only does it at school. She rips the paper into tiny pieces and eats them. Please advise if this is serious and what you would advise to stop this. Otherwise she eats a well balanced diet and enjoys her food.

Pediatrician 's  Response
PICA sometimes indicates iron difiency anemia or some vitmains diffecency.
I recommend doing a complete blood count and serum ferritin to look at iron stores .
physical exam and complete history may reveal other behaviours.
I hope this helps
