How Can Recurrent Cold Be Treated?

My name is Karen. Age 64/diabetic\ manage with insulin..my question is that I have noticed within the past year or two once I get a cold it is very hard to get rid of it. Right now I m ending second week of being sick..would immune boosters help at all?
