How Can Recurrent Vaginal Yeast Infection Be Treated?

I am experiencing recurrent vaginal yeast infections (I am post menopausal) and the over-the-counter Miconazole treatments only resolve symptoms for a few weeks and the infection is back. I have an appointment with my doctor in a month (he is on surgical leave). What can I do for relief before the appointment?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Recurrent vaginal infection may be seen in immunosuppression conditions, diabetes and also in post-menopause. A lack of cervical secretions and dryness of vaginal may lead to this.

You may need hormonal replacement therapy along with Clotrimazole pv gel. If symptoms not improved, then please consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
