How Can Severe Cramps In The Hip And Knee Be Treated?

for the past 3 weeks I have been experiencing cramps in my right hip and right knee, mostly at night. Seems to be most pronounced when I lay or turn onto my right side. It can wake me up. Now, for the past 3-4 days, it is also on my left. I have been treating it with 600 mg motrin during the day and 600mg motrin with 2 tylenol/benadryl at night. still hurts when I turn but I get 5-6 hours sleep before it returns.

Hello,

As first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. Detailed evaluation including an MRI scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
