How Can Severe Pain In The Esophagus While Swallowing Food Be Treated?

Yes sir every time I swallow foods and liquids ( I've been on very soft foods and liquids since Monday due to oral sugery) when it passes from my esophacus to my stomach, I get a terrible pain. It feels like a hard ball there and the food is trying to go around it. I am a 63 year old lady and my name is Sarah

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a gastroenterologist and get an endoscopy done to look for any possible mass or growth in the upper esophagus. Other potato’s severe gastric reflux. As of now you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
