How Can Side Effects Of Metoprolol Tartrate Be Managed?
My daughter has been taking the drug metoprolol tartrate for over 5 years at 400 mg a day. I recently checked the side affects on line for this drug and was shocked. Many of the side affects she has. One of them was rapid weight gain which seems counter to being healthy. I have also discovered that bp drugs can cause kidney failure and other problems. Need advice :-) Email me at YYYYY@YYYY.YY Thank you!
Your daughter is on a very high dose of Metoprolol (Adults dose: PO 100 mg/day in single or divided doses initially; maintenance: 100–450 mg/day).
She is likely to have some side-effects because of high dosage. One can have urinary retention; difficulty with urination but this drug is not nephrotoxic as such.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
