Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Sinusitis Along With Headache And Low Grade Fever Be Treated?
I was diagnose with a sinus infection, but I don t have a stuffy nose-merely coughing and sore throat. My head aches and I have a low grade fever. It s not the flu or strep (tests negative). Why did the Nurse Practitioner prescribe flonase? I can understand the antibiotic prescribed (omoxicillan -mis-spelled).
Sinusitis is commonly associated with allergic rhinitis. Rhinitis will result in a stuffed nose leading to decreased drainage from sinuses resulting in sinusitis. Using flonase will help reduce the inflammation and swelling on nasal mucosa leading to opening and free drainage from sinuses. The will help clear up an infection of sinuses faster.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
