How Can Skin Irritation On The Hands Be Treated?

I have a bad skin irritation on my hands. Have had it for awhile. My Dr. hasen t been much help with it. My husbands hands are covered with this skin irritation, he use to work making wood pallets for years. His hands were never like this until he had been working here for a couple of years. Some years later I developed a painful rash on my right hand. It started just on a couple of fingers, but over the coarse of a couple of years it has spread all over my hand and has also took to my other hand as well. My hands are super dry, somewhat swelled in the affected area, and are sore. Can you help me? PLEASE!
