How Can Sore Throat, Tonsils Swelling With Pus Be Treated?

I have a bad sore throat for 2 weeks. My tonsils are swollen and have white pus pockets on them. I have been gargling with warm salt water for 3 days and it has not helped the pain at all. I was on augmentin for 10 days for what appeared to be an ear infection. However It did not help my throat at all. What can I do to get rid of it I don't know how much more pain I can handle
