How Can Speech With Eating Problems After A Paralytic Attack Be Treated?
Hi! my mom has had a mild paralytic attack, right side ..on 1st august.. due to which she is unable to speak and eat. She is being fed through the Ryles tube, through her nose. She is developing a lot of cough... would it be caused due to certain food in her diet like banana milk shake or milk in any form or figs milk shake etc. please advise healthy diet too that can be fed through the tube. wat could be the other causes for cough generation n remedies too? also wat can be done to revive her speech? please guide. thanks
Dear caring son Speech and eating problems after paralytic attack occurs due to weakness of facial and tongue muscles. If this was due to cerebrovascular accident then it takes many months to improve. You have to take her to physiotherapists daily for initial fifteen days. Feeding through ryles tube is safe. Foods which are easily digestible should be given. Accidental aspiration of food into chest cavity leads to cough so feeding should always given in sitting position.
