How Can Stomach Upset And Burning Sensation In The Stomach Be Treated?
Hello, I am a female 69 yrs. old. I have been having upset stomach issues off and on for a while, but lately for the last two weeks (esp. this week) my stomach is always upset. Last week one night I awoke with a burning in my gut that was terrible and lasted for a while. It seems that when I eat, my stomach is better with food in it. I don t know if these symptoms are related, but my lips have been very dry and cracked. This has never happened before. I have been applying products to my lips for moisture, but nothing helps. Also lots of headaches. (more than usual)
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It could be due to gastritis (inflammation of the gastric mucosa) or ulcers which need laboratory investigations. I would like to know if you are eating your meals regularly or not. As there could be a headache due to low blood glucose levels. It is advisable to consult a general physician. For symptomatic relief take tablet Omeprazole in the morning half an hour before food. Please take 6 small meals a day instead of 3 large meals.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Riyanka Chai
