How Can Strep Throat Along With Cough And Body Ache Be Treated?
I was diagnosed with strep throat 3 days ago and am taking 875 mg of amoxicillin 2x daily as prescribed by doc. I don’t feel it helping at all. I’ve developed a bad cough now, not a dry one, but a gurgle-ish one, body aches. I’m 69, take no other meds, in pretty good shape but concerned that the medication is not making me feel better like it has in past. Your thoughts?
You need to complete the prescribed course of antibiotics. It would take about 48 hours to feel better. However, along with medications, you need to take some supportive measures as follows:
1. Take steam inhalation twice daily.
2. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice daily.
3. Use medicated lozenges.
Gradually, you should feel better and be back to normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
