How Can Swelling In The Ankles Due To Vitamin B12 Deficiency Be Managed?

I am underweight (86 lbs). and yet have swollen ankles due to Vitamin B12 deficiency. I have been eating extra sodium per my doctor s advice, which is obviously exacerbating the condition. I know I need to reduce my sodium intake, take a supplement, and eat more seafood and vegetables, but is there anything else I can do?

Hi,

While sodium restrictions have quite a role in reducing edema, but there is a number of drugs that may also work quite well to reduce the swelling. These include diuretics like furosemide.

Howe'ver we should also focus more on treating the prime cause of the swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
