How Can Swollen Varicose Veins Behind The Left Knee Be Treated?

I have had superficial thrombophlebitis many years ago and have also had DVTs in the past, causing a pulmonary Edema 3 times, one clot to my heart, 4 small left side strokes and quite a few TIAs. I was first prescribed Coumadin (following heparin), then injected love of X. 2 daily, but in the past year began taking Eliquis. I have a positive anticardiolipin antibody, the root of my blood problems, also SLE, Renaud s and Fibromyalgia. My problem is that my husband and I have just returned from driving to and from Florida over a 3 week period and the thick superficial varicose veins behind my left knee are swollen and my leg is swollen, with much pain involved. My leg has been elivated and am off my feet mostly. Since I take Eliquis, am I safe.
