How Can Terminal Stage Of Alzheimer's Disease Be Treated?
My mother is 92 with severe stage Alzheimer's Disease. She had an arrhythmia this morning. Her O2 on room air was 84%. She is 96% now but she is not as responsive to us. She has a vacant look and does not seem to recognize us. She is usually able to talk in short phrases but can't now. She has a temperature of 100.5. It all doesn't add up to us. Any ideas of what is going on.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The description is suggestive of multiorgan failure and only supportive treatment is left. It is better to get admitted in a hospital and she might require ventilator support. Considering age and general condition hopes are on lower side.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
