Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am very confused. I am 76 years old, and have had hypothyroid disease and was on medication since I was 18. This week, I went in for a thyroid test. It cam back with a perfectly normal thyroid level, even though I have not taken any medication for thyroid since 2014. I stopped, because we had severe financial setbacks, and I could no longer afford doctors visits. I am now showing all signs of thyroid disease. I would appreciate your assistance. Thank you. Jackie
What symptoms you have now? What medication had you taken? Did you attain menopause, if so, then at what age?
If you have symptoms like weight gain, lot of hair fall, not able to tolerate cold, constipation, weakness et cetera.
I suggest you to take T.Eltroxin drug OD (once daily in the morning at empty stomach) and its best option to do thyroid profile test (free T3, free T4,TSH) and refer a physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini
