How Can Urinary Incontinence Be Treated?

My urologist here was treating my incontinence with amytriptyline 50 mg, once a day. He decided to retire a couple of months ago. My incontinence is not severe in my mind - but still a nuisance. He suggested that I put up with the leakage and start wearing thin shields in my undershorts. That is one solution, but I wonder if something like Detrol LA might stop the problem all together. I know I can contact his old phone number and probably get a referring urologist, but is there anything you can suggest that I do?

Detrol A may help but wont cure the exact cause. . If urinary incontinence affects your daily activities, don't hesitate to see your doctor. For most people, simple lifestyle changes or medical treatment can ease discomfort or stop urinary incontinence. It is treated with specific medications, pelvic floor muscles exercises, electric stimulation of bihevioral treatment and in most cases this is adequate for incontinence control.
