How Can Urination Difficulty Caused By Colposcopy Be Treated?

I just had a colposcopy earlier today (17hr ago) and I am now having trouble urinating. I can have a full bladder but it only comes out as a trickle. I took some ibuprofen because I thought maybe it was swollen but it doesn't seem to have an effect. Is this normal, something I should call my doc about tomorrow, or something that needs to be treated asap?

Hi,

As per the narration, this seems acute retention of urine.

Possible side effect of some drugs used to sedate during colonoscopy. I recommend to visit ER , rather than wasting time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
