Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAVE PERIODICALLY, MILD TO SEVERE ITCHING AND SOME ACHING IN THE VULVA AREA. MY DOC TREATS THIS WITH FLUCONAZOLE. IT WORKs , BUT DOES NOT "CURE." iS THERE A CURE FOR THIS AFFLICTION? IT AFFLICTS ME REGULARLY, ABOUT TWICE A YEAR AND IS SEVERELY BOTHERSOME, AND HURTFUL. [i AM SOON TO BE 85 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NO SEX IN My LIFE (IF THAT MIGHT BE PERTINENT, CONSIDERING THE 'LOCATION' OF THE AILMENT ). THANKS IN ADVANCE! Gerrie Collins
General & Family Physician, Dr. DIVYA N's Response
hi thanks for the question... understand your concern.most common cause of itching, dryness and ache in your specified age group is senile vaginitis,to be more clear its due to harmonal deficiency after menopause. And next comes other fungal or bacterial infections. if i was your treating doctor,i would have ruled out diabetes to check if it was due to some secondary infections and anyother specific infections. then i would have started you on estrogen creams for local application like premarin vAGINAL cream for 21 days on therapy and 7 days off therapy.. any doubts can always get back to me..thanq
