Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Vimpat for nighttime seizures and it works. I have a bad back problem which greatly restricts my activity. Now I am experiencing one or two attacks of vaso vagel daily. If I feel it coming on, wash my forehead with cold water to try to prevent it. If I am unable to get the attack stoppped, I as quickly as possible lie down to cool off ( I perspire very heavily as I have these). This is causing an extreme loss of energy, and I have trouble getting around even on my walker. What can I do to reduce or eliminate the incidence of the vaso vagel attacks.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It may be vasovagal synchope or sensory ataxia seen in posterior columns degeneration lead to loss of position sense after closing the eyes. Just examined by Romberg test. For vasovagal syncope may be treated with deep vein stockings, use of leg muscles exercises, avoid high risk activities is useful. It is confirmed by tilt tablet test, no monitoring in sitting and lying down position is useful. fludtocoridone may help in few patients. Cardiac pacemakers also useful. Please consult your physician/Cardiologist they will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
