How Contagious Is Bronchitis With Bacterial Infections?

My spouse has been diagnosed with bronchitis , allergy symptoms worsened into bacterial infection. Doctor prescribed antibiotic and steroid treatment today. How contagious is his condition? Are his co-workers at risk? Can I carry bacteria on my clothing? I am a volunteer visiting patients in nursing homes. Thank you.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
Yes, viruses and bacteria can spread through clothes especially you are visiting hospitals frequently.
So better to change clothes first, at home.
And your husband is contagious only when he is coughing or sneezing.
Due to these act droplets of microorganisms can be spread in environment.
And these droplets can be inhaled by normal healthy volunteers and they become infected.
So better to give your husband, mask to wear especially during coughing and sneezing.
