Hi,
Noted the history of fall on an outstretched left hand, pain and swelling, normal X-rays, no
fracture,
physiotherapy did not help.
My thoughts:
Since the hand is a dependent part, keeping in hanging by side below the heart level will cause the edema and thus pain.
Soft tissue injuries take far more time than the fracture.
Hence I would advise you teh following:
Continue the medication, particularly the anti-inflammatory medications.
Needs a
splint to avoid movements of the affected area, give it a rest for healing to occur.
Keep the hand above the heart level in lying down position, helps a lot.
Also get the blood tests for CBC,
thyroid and kidney functions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
