How Do I Go About Pain Management After A Two Level Fusion At L2-L4 Following A Car Accident?

I had a two level fusion following a car accident, L2-L4. Also 1st metatarsal fusion in my left foot. How do I talk to two different surgeons in different practices about my pain, I want to be open and honest but with today s opiod epidemic I don t know how to go about pain management. It has been 6 weeks since spine surgery and almost a month since my foot. I am 20 y/o male, 145 lbs, used to be very active; a soccer player and cross country runner. My pain ranges from 5-8 depending on the day and I m beginning to worry my back will hurt forever. I have had one day since back surgery where I felt pain under a 5...any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Amitriptyline or Pregabalin would be good treatment options for chronic back pain managements. These two drugs do not cause addiction and tolerance like opioids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
