How Do I Safely Get Off Of Pain Medication?

How do I safely get off of my 3 times a day tablets. I am feeling a lot of the symptoms described on this link. I have tried but I have an addiction and I don t feel I need them all the time. I have fybro and arthritis which was why I was taking them. I don t have that pain everyday and in fact the symptoms of this disorders go away for long periods at a time or at least they are not so much I need a pain pill. I just want a safe way to come off of them in a way that I wouldn t have much problems. I also take Xanex twice aday and triazadone once before bedtime.

Hello,

It's good to know that you want to come out of your addiction to pain pills. You should never take any medication in excess. because it will harm you.

Firstly you should have a strong resolution to do so. Inform your treating doctor about it, your doctor will taper the doses. Start lowering the dose of your intake.

You may have a craving for the same but divert yourself & take fruit, nuts or warm soup. Built healthy habits, avoid taking anything that may trigger your symptoms.

Beware side effects of pain pills can cause stomach ulcers that may lead to serious health issues later, headaches/dizziness, diarrhea & they also increase the risk of heart attack or stroke by complicating other health issues.

As you taper the doses to ultimately stop taking it, you may experience withdrawal symptoms like irritability, confusion, tremors, loss of appetite.

To control the withdrawal symptoms you may give you certain medications to ease the process of detoxification.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
