How Do You Get Rid Of E Coli In The Urinary Tract?

I am struggling with e-coli bacteria in my system, which seems to be causing me re-occuring UTIs. I have already used cipro and another medicine in the past to treat my symptoms but the infection is back. I do not want to keep using antibiotics because they have bad side affects. My boyfriend also has the same issue. What can be causing this and what can we do to clear it up?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

E.coli is a very common bacteria that causes urinary tract infection.

I suggest to do a urine test to confirm the infection.

If the infection is still present, I suggest to use a cycle of antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin to treat the infection.

I also suggest to use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
