How Does Alcohol React In My Body While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

If I had hypothyrodism and drank on a Friday night and had one beer on a Saturday night, is it possible for the alcohol to still show relatively high in my system? I got pulled over for a dui and blew a .08, but only after 1 beer that evening and am not sure how I could have had such high blood alcohol content. (this happened about a week before the doctor prescribed Levothyroxine for me).

Thanks for your input!

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Alcohol concentration in the blood depend on the amount of alcohol used, duration of use, time gap from the last dose and metabolic rate of the patient.

Thyroxin hormone regulate metabolic rate of the body. In case of hypothyroidism there is reduction in metabolic rate of the body, which can delay the alcohol metabolism from the body. It can lead to detection of alcohol for long time during screening tests.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
