How Does An Orthopedic Surgeon Treat Coccyx Edema?

I was told the I have a coccyx edema.....they want me to see an orthoped surgeon...what can he do that my DR can't. I am a 45 year old female and have never had any health issues. 3 years ago , I did fall and break my tailbone but have had no issues til now
