How Does One Deal With Severe Hair Fall And Weight Gain While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?
hi recently an endocrinologist checked my reports of T3,T4, TSH and ANTI TPO. MY T3 andT4 levels are normal and TSH is slightly on higher side but my anti TPO is very high . so doc suggested me to take 50 mcg of thyronom daily. due to hypothyrodism i am over weight and have severe hair fall, my query is that thyronom will help me or will worsen the condition of weight and hair loss
Thyronorm ( a synthetic Thyroid hormone) is one of the slowest acting hormone. The response is seen only after 6-8 weeks' of starting treatment.
You will therefore have to be very patient. The dose of Thyronorm would have be titrated, so as to maintain TSH around 1.0
You will notice the positive response on your weight and excessive hair fall, once the TSH is stabilized around 1 or less.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and take appropriate action.
