How Early Can HIV Virus Be Detected After Exposure?
Hi, I am happily married for 7 years. I went to my GYN last year for a routine pap and also to have her check for a minor irritation on my inner labia. Immediatly she said it could be HIV, HERP 2 among other things. I had an HIV test back in 2005 with the results negative and upon hearing her say this last year, I went into freak out mode. I received the results on 5-14-10 with HIV 1/o/2 ABS Index Value-150010 <1.00, specimen reactivity relative to the negative cut off, Result (NR), reference range non-reactive non-reactive. My questions is, if I was exposed to the virus 8 years ago would it show up on the test I took last year? I appreciate your help.
Yes most of thr time it will show positive result if yor are exposed 8 year ago. But in few patients it may remain hidden. So if you want to confirm then go for pcr based test.
