Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am on 200 mgs of Seroquel daily, and I need to get off of this medication. I have spoken to my psychiatrist, and he is okay with me tapering off. My question is, how fast can I taper off this medication? So for I m taking half of the 200 mg pill, so I m now down to 100 mgs. How quickly can i drop down to 50 mgs, and the completely stop taking ?
Kindly ask your doctor for a tapering plan, so you can discontinue safely without too many/any withdrawal symptoms. As the doses of Seroquel is available in 100 mg & 50 mg, it will probably be advised to reduce by taking lower strength tablets before it is completely stopped.
Tapering needs to be done gradually and such medications should not be stopped abruptly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
