How Is HIV Virus Transmitted?

I noticed some rashes on my skin and I had the fever easily and a lot, so I decided to go to the doctor. After numerous tests, I found out that I was HIV positive. I am confused because I never had sex before nor was I born with HIV Aids. What other way I might have contracted this virus?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

HIV infection is exclusively transmitted through blood contact, sexual intercourse or from mother to child.

If you have never been sexually active and if you have not had HIV from birth then blood contact is the only way. This can be through needles (if you use drugs and share needles), surgical procedures (medical or dental) or by being pricked, which would allow your blood to be in contact with the blood of a person infected by HIV.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
