How Is Osteoarthritis In The Early Stages Diagnosed?

hi, i recently went to a rhunatologist as i currantly experience pain in my ankles in the mornings i was told i have not got rhumatoid arthrist but am in the early stages of osteoartritis and have been refred to a podiatrist for some insoles how come my own gp hasnt picked up on this can you throw any light on it.

It is diagnosed by irregular joint space and ostoephytes present on x Ray. Treatment of it is Diacerine and glucosamine. Exercises are helpful. Analgesic such as ibuprofen are used for pain relief.
