How Long After Retrograde Cystoscopy Can One Have Sex?

Hey I had a retrograde cystoscopy done about 36 hours ago. Pain from urinating is very minor and while it doesn t feel 100% normal yet it certainly doesn t hurt anymore. My doctor didn t say anything about post-care regarding sex and since it s the weekend I don t have access to calling his office. Is 36 hours enough time for me to have waited if I feel generally fine or should I keep waiting to have sex?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
- Retrograde cystoscopy is an investigative procedure, where catheter is passed through urethra.
- naturally some injury to urethra/infection of urethra are the unwanted side effects, which should be avoided during post test days.
- Though you don't have any such symptom at present- intercourse may result in pushing infection in unhealed/partially healed urethra. Normally, without any infection healing takes a time of 5-7 days.

- This suggests you abstinence for four more days.
Thanks.
