How Long Does Antibiotic Take To Treat Cellulitis ?
hi ,my sister had an abcess in one foot and the dr did surgical drainage to it and she took an antibiotic course(levofloxacillin)after she stopped the antibiotic she comlained of fever ,chills ,severe malaise ,and pain and edema in the other foot.The doctor said it is cellulitis and gave her another antibiotic(mevofloxacin 400 mg every 24 h tab.this was 6 days ago .now there is no fever anymore and the pain decreased but the edema did not improve at all and the foot is still hot and became shiny red now. ,i gave her alphintern to decrease the edema with the antibiotic........she has Charcot Marie tooth foot..... ...is she so improving or not,how long will it take ,is this ttt right? she is 28 y old

Antibiotic will control the infection but to reduce oedema, she will require glycerine-magnesium sulphate dressing and foot end elevation under cover of anti inflammatory medication.
If there is any discharge from the foot then go for swab culture and sensitivity test of it and Consult your doctor with this reports, so that he can start appropriate antibiotic for your sister.
