How Long Does Difficulty In Swallowing Persist After A Surgery?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Swallowing problem may be due to post surgery dysmotility or ineffective chewing and swallowing energy or chances to aspiration etc. Esophageal spasms or achalasia cardia also may cause swallowing difficulty. Please confirm with your treating doctor where is the exact cause of swallowing difficulty. Keep him head end elevation position, check for aspiration by chest X-ray and examination clinically. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly. Take care.
