How Long Does Heavy Bleeding Due To Mirena Insertion Continue Post Removal?
Had mirena inserted 31 days ago, had heavy bleeding (4 to 5 pads) daily every day for a month. Called ob/gyn and went in for recheck and it had partially expelled. NP removed the Mirena and placed me on lo loestrin which I started last night. Continue to have heavy bleeding. How long may I expect to have heavy bleeding before I should worry there may be a problem that needs to be looked into further?
You had Mirena inserted 31 days ago. You had bleeding for about one month. You visited an OBGYN and the Mirena was found partially expelled. So you had to remove it and your OBGYN has presently put you on Loestrin. You are presently continuing to bleed heavily. Bleeding heavily may be indicative of hormonal imbalance, fibroid, endometriosis or perforation of the uterus.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an OBGYN get all tests and investigations done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. Do not do any heavy work. Stay at rest. Take home made nutritious food rich in calcium, iron and protein. You can also take supplements. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
