How Long Does It Take For The Fever To Come Down Under Cipro Medication?
Hi. I had an anterior total knee replacement on June 10. Surgery went fine and I was discharged three days later. Am already walking wit just a cane, but I developed a low grade fever (99.0-100.0) that I Can t shake off. My gp put me on cipro two days ago, 500 mg, once per day, but tonight I still have the low grade fever. He thinks it s a uti. Question: how long on average before the cipro might break the fever and I feel better? Thanks, -- Rob.
a UTI with fever is supposed to get better after 3-4 days of proper treatment unless there are complications. If the fever started right after the operation then it's the operation itself that caused it. If it started a few days later it could be attributed to various causes. A UTI, surgical infection, something unrelated to the situation... So in conclusion, I can't say what caused it, but if it is a UTI then 3-4 days of treatment should be enough to see improvement. The total duration of treatment is 10-14 days depending on the pathogen and clinical course.
